Academic Development

Parent involvement is one of of the biggest factors in whether or not a student will be successful at Rio Norte. While we want to encourage autonomy in jr. high, students are generally not fully ready for their parents to take a hands-off approach. Our motto is, “Trust, but Verify.”  :)

Academic Success Strategies:

Work Completion:

  1. Attend school regularly.
  2. Use binder reminder daily.
  3. Complete homework the night it is assigned.
  4. Seek help from teachers…..they are not scary!!
  5. Keep completed homework in one area of the binder or use a separate homework folder.

Organization:

  1. Use binder reminder daily.
  2. Clean out and organize backpack and binders weekly.
  3. Bring all materials to class daily (avoid “A” and “B” day binders).
  4. Keep completed homework in one area of the binder or use a separate homework folder.
  5. Create and follow an after school schedule.

Communication:

  1. Check Infinite Campus often.
  2. Check teachers’ websites.
  3. Email teachers directly for concerns or questions.
